Where were you born?

Texas City, Texas

Where did you go to school?

Newport News High School (Newport News, VA)

Do you have a college degree?

Yes, a BS in Business Marketing, and MBA from William & Mary

What was your field of study?

Business Marketing and Business Administration

Do you have professional registration? If yes what states?

No.

What attracted you to the HVAC&R industry?

While working in the plumbing/piping supply industry, realized that the HVAC&R industry was an area to grow professionally.

What did you do early in your career?

First job was with Ferguson Enterprises in 1977 in Charleston, SC to sell plumbing equipment.  Soon after being hired, was sent to Myrtle Beach, SC and spent about 18 months there.  Eventually was sent to Jacksonville.

How and when did you become interested in ASHRAE?

 Ed Gray and Barney von Herrman encourage involvement in ASHRAE.  Said that it would be an opportunity to learn, meet people and have fun.  They were right about all of that and it has really been worth the investment in time to be involved in ASHRAE.


What was most memorable about your year as Chapter President?

We celebrated our 50th Anniversary.  The main celebration occurred at the President’s Ball at the University Center and we were honored to have the Society President (Terry Townsend, PE) in attendance.

Also, at the CRC, the Jacksonville Chapter received the first regional sustainability award.
